fashiontipsfromcomicstrips:

So I received these wonderful vintage bat shoes in the mail this past weekend, however I may end up returning them. Although the shoes are technically brand new and didn’t display any signs of wear, the patent coating (note: they’re not real leather) started cracking and flaking off (presumably due to aging) within minutes of trying them on.

Do any of you have any DIY/shoe repair tips on how to salvage my shoes or should I just return them? :-/

  13. damnithaley answered: I don’t know very many shoe repair tips, but I personally would not send them back and take the flaking as “artistic value”. That’s just me.

  24. czarnian answered: the layer that covers the shoe is only a polymer plastic. This happens due to extreme drying of the surface. your shoes are dead.
  25. jump-it-or-crash-it answered: They’re cool, but I’d return em. Better to now than decide to after u try2 fix them&can’t b/c the company won’t take back altered merch.
  26. br0seid0n77 answered: superglue the pieces back in place, coat the entire area with a silicone based sealer; costs less than 30 dollars CDN
